Directions from North

From Limoges Airport, take the exit, go straight on at the first roundabout, and follow the large blue signs to the Autoroute A20. If you set your trip meter on the exit road opposite the terminal, the sign directing you to turn left is only 600 metres away.

200 metres further on you will see the junction so turn LEFT and this takes you onto the N520 (was D2000) clockwise.

13 kms later you will come to two roundabouts in rapid succession, go straight over the first and turn right at the second towards Toulouse. You will be coming in at Jct 28.

Take the A20 southbound (It's free from Vierzon to South of Brive). Leave it at junction 45 which is signposted Tulle, Aurillac & Clermont-Ferrand (Don't be tempted by the new A89 link, it's a snare and delusion unless you know the back doubles through Tulle). You will be on the D1120 (previously the N120). Carry on towards Tulle which is about 28 kms from the motorway exit. As you go down the hill into Tulle do NOT fork right towards "Centre ville", carry straight on (Toutes directions).

When you reach the valley, and at the new roundabout turn LEFT over the river and left again up the hill on the other side (signposted Autres directions and Ussel, Argentat).

Go up the hairpins and at the top again, turn RIGHT onto the N89 (green(signpost Aurillac, Brive - with Argentat in white beneath it).

Exactly 3 km later, take the first exit (signposted Aurillac). On descending the slip road, you will find yourself at a T junction on the D1120 (ex N120) again, turn LEFT (green signpost - Aurillac). Continue from Ref A

Directions from East

Take N89/A89 towards Tulle, Brive & Bordeaux.Do follow signs to A89 if you can as it makes a big difference to the journey. Take the Tulle Centre/Aurillac exit and join the N89 east of Tulle, don't be tempted to continue on A89 to Tulle Nord as it is useless for access to the south, where we are. Once on the N89, beware there is an automatic radar speed camera between the motorway exit and Tulle. From the N89 roundabout, carry on for around 10 kilometres and leave it at the second Tulle exit (signposted in Green - Aurillac - in white, Laguenne, Argentat & Mauriac). On descending the slip road, you will find yourself at a T junction on the D1120, turn LEFT (green signpost - Aurillac).

Almost immediately you will see the supermarket Auchan on your right - a good place to refill your car cheaply. Carry on along the D1120 (originally the N120) towards Aurillac, climbing up the hill and down again. Our roadside sign:-

is 14 km from the traffic lights at Auchan, and directs you to turn left exactly 900 m further on in the middle of the village of Forges.

Directions from West.

Take the A89 until it joins the A20 in the Paris direction. About 1 km later, you will come to exit 49 to Tulle, Brive and Malemort via local roads (D1089) take that exit which is the new Brive bypass and greatly eases the journey. Carry on until you get to the second roundabout, signposted Brive Est and Malemort and the A89. At this point you have a choice of routes. One easier but longer (D1089>D1120), the other shorter but on more winding roads (D921).

1 Easy route. Carry straight on at the roundabout. The road descends and at the next roundabout you turn left towards Tulle. Carry on along that road (several tunnels) until you come to an underpass in Tulle itself. Immediately afterwards take the slip road. Beware, Satnavs will tell you to go straight on there. That's because the main road swings slightly to the left and machines are dumb. The exit is signposted Aurillac, Argentat and Tulle Est. At the T junction turn right towards Aurillac and Argentat on the D1120. Continue from Ref A

2 More direct route. Turn right at the roundabout and do the same at the next one immediately following, following signs for Malemort and Brive Est. Follow that road (D44) down the hill until you get to the big round about in front of Malemort Town Hall. Turn left towards Clermont, Tulle and Aurillac (satnavs maysay 4th exit, it's the 3rd). 400 metres further on, turn right at the lights, signposted Beynat and Argentat, cross the river and carry on a further 1½ km or so going straight on over the next two roundabouts. This road climbs a bit and arrives at a major roundabout (carrefour Rhin et Danube) on the old N121, now D921 where you turn left towards Lanteuil, Beynat & Argentat.

Take it for some 34 kms climbing slowly up towards the D940 junction (Roche de Vic/4 routes d'Albussac) and down on the other side again. You will arrive at a T junction with the D1120 (previously the N120), green signs left to Tulle and right to Aurillac, white left to Forges (3km).

Directions from the South-East.

From Aurillac and the Cantal, take the D1120 (was the N120) in the direction of Tulle and Limoges About 5 kms after a long climb down the hill, you will come to the roundabout marking the start of the Argentat bypass, take it, following signs for Tulle etc. (not Centre Ville). After crossing the Dordogne, you'll come to another roundabout with the supermarket Casino on your left (a fair place to fill up your car during working hours). Go straight on towards Tulle. After about 10 kms you will see our roadside sign on the right Continue from ref B

Directions from the South-West

From Toulouse Cahors etc.Take the A20 northbound. Just after junction 52 for Beaulieu, Collonges, & Turenne at Noailles, beware, as there is an automatic radar speed camera. Just after the A89 joins the A20 take the exit to Tulle via local roads (D1089). This is the new Brive bypass and greatly eases the journey. follow instructions as from the West.

Turn LEFT and after about 2kms you will see our roadside sign of the right,

telling you to turn right in 800 m.

Do so, and drive up the left hand side of the village square (we have a sign at the bottom of the square there) into the square in front of the Church. Don't climb the narrow cul de sac leading to our house, it's a dog leg and it's difficult to turn round. Park in that square, which is free anywhere for anyone, and walk up the imp La Fontaine.
